WhatsApp support is in development. When it ships, it will be available on Paid and Unlimited plans — not Free.
What to expect
WhatsApp Business API integration will work similarly to Messenger: Costello receives inbound messages from your WhatsApp Business number and replies automatically.
A few specifics that differ from Instagram and Messenger:
- Requires a WhatsApp Business account (separate from a personal WhatsApp number). If you don't have one, Meta has a self-serve setup process.
- Paid and Unlimited plans only — WhatsApp won't be available on Free. This is a Meta requirement: the WhatsApp Business API requires an active business verification with Meta, which comes with higher infrastructure costs.
- Template messages for proactive outreach — the WhatsApp API allows outbound messages to customers who have opted in, opening up appointment reminders and follow-up flows. This is not part of the initial launch but is on the roadmap.
Current status
WhatsApp is pending Meta App Review. Meta requires a separate, detailed review before any app can send and receive WhatsApp messages via the API.
We don't have a firm launch date yet. Registered clinics will be notified by email when WhatsApp goes live.
Register early interest
If you want to be notified as soon as WhatsApp is available — and be first in the onboarding queue — submit a support case → with the subject "WhatsApp early interest" and your clinic's WhatsApp Business number (if you have one).
