The setup walkthrough

When you first sign up, Costello guides you through a short setup so your AI receptionist is trained and ready. Here's exactly what happens at each step, so there are no surprises. The whole thing takes about ten minutes — and you can skip ahead and finish anything later.

What the walkthrough does

Enter your business name

You tell us who you are. This is the name Costello uses when it talks to customers.

We scan your website

Paste your website and we read it automatically, pulling out your services, prices, hours, and brand voice to save you typing.

Confirm your name

A quick check that we've got your business name right before we go further.

Pick a plan

Choose Free, Growth, or Unlimited. You can change this any time in Billing.

Set voice and tone

Decide how Costello introduces itself and the personality it uses, so replies sound like you.

Set up web chat

Get the chat bubble ready for your website — the quickest channel to go live on.

Connect your channels

Link Instagram, Facebook Messenger, or your website so Costello can start replying where your customers message.

Add your knowledge

Fill in the details that make replies accurate: business information, opening hours, policies, your pricing CSV, uploaded files, and FAQs.

Test in the Playground

Chat with your receptionist exactly as a customer would, and check the answers read the way you want.

Set your booking link and handoff email

Add the link Costello sends qualified leads, and the inbox where it forwards anything needing a human.

Costello trains ('cooking')

We pull everything together and train your receptionist. You'll see a short "cooking" screen while this happens.

Go live

Once you're happy, Costello starts replying to real customers for you.

You don't have to do it all now

Skip anything and come back

Every step is optional in the moment. Skip what you're not ready for and finish it later. You can edit everything — business details, hours, policies, voice, pricing — any time in Knowledge in the left-hand menu.

The more you give Costello, the sharper its replies. But you can absolutely go live with the basics and keep building afterwards as you see how real conversations go.
